Description
The FICO FCT-Ring Type, often referred to as a Core Balance Current Transformer (CBCT), is a high-precision circular CT designed for primary current sensing in medium-voltage systems. Unlike block-type CTs, the ring design allows a primary conductor or cable to pass directly through its center, making it an efficient solution for monitoring current flow without breaking the primary circuit. This specific model features a dual-ratio secondary winding, providing flexibility for different metering scales.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
Dual-Ratio Secondary: Provides two distinct primary-to-secondary ratios within a single unit:
600/5A: 10 VA, Class 0.5M5 (Terminals 2S1-2S3)
300/5A: 10 VA, Class 0.5M5 (Terminals 2S2-2S3)
High Precision (0.5M5): Optimized for revenue-grade metering and precise instrument monitoring where low error margins are critical.
Compact Ring Geometry: The circular “doughnut” design allows for easy installation over existing cables or busbars, saving significant space in switchgear cubicles.
Technical Safety Ratings:
System Voltage (Um): 1 kV
Insulation Level: 1 / 3 / 10 kV
Short-Time Thermal Current (Ith): 21 kA for 1 second
Standards Compliance: Fully compliant with IEC 61869-1/2, ensuring it meets international standards for instrument transformers.
Rugged Encapsulation: Vacuum-cast in high-quality epoxy resin to ensure moisture resistance and mechanical protection of the internal magnetic core.
Secure Installation Base: Mounted on a galvanized steel plate with four precision-cut slots for stable vertical installation.
Secondary Terminal Configuration: Features a 3-screw terminal block (2S1, M, 2S2, 2S3) for clear and reliable secondary wiring.
Safety Protocol: As noted on the unit, one secondary terminal must be earthed during service. Never apply high voltage while the secondary winding is open-circuited.
